This asparagus blanketed in cheese sauce is baked to tender perfection. A side dish that is simple enough for a busy weeknight meal yet special enough to serve to company.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed
- 1 cup half-and-half
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon ground mustard
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (Optional)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Step 2
Arrange asparagus spears in a shallow baking dish.
Step 3
Whisk together half-and-half, cornstarch, Italian seasoning, ground mustard, red pepper flakes, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Pour mixture over asparagus and swirl the dish so that liquid coats the bottom of the dish.
