Trying to get away from processed foods, I created a recipe for sausage balls that uses flour and doesn’t use baking mix.
Ingredients
- 1 pound bulk spicy pork sausage, at room temperature
- 2 (8 ounce) packages shredded extra-sharp Cheddar cheese, at room temperature
- 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon seasoned salt
- ¼ teaspoon dry mustard
Directions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Step 2
Combine sausage, Cheddar cheese, flour, baking powder, salt, onion powder, seasoned salt, and dry mustard in a large bowl.
Step 3
Form into walnut-size balls and place on rimmed nonstick baking sheets.
Step 4
Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown and no longer pink in the centers, about 20 minutes.
Cook’s Note:
Cheese and seasoning can be altered to individual taste.
