These meatballs are baked in a sweet sauce for a tasty weeknight dinner. My kids love them. Serve with rice or potatoes.
Ingredients
- cooking spray
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
Sauce
- ¾ cup water
- ½ cup ketchup
- ½ cup white sugar
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt
Directions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
Step 2
Form beef into 20 meatballs. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs in the hot skillet until browned on all sides, about 15 minutes. Transfer meatballs to the prepared baking dish.
Step 3
Make sauce: Whisk together water, ketchup, sugar, soy sauce, cornstarch, vinegar, mustard powder, and salt in a bowl until sugar is dissolved and cornstarch is incorporated. Pour sauce over meatballs.
Step 4
Bake in the preheated oven until sauce is thickened and meatballs are cooked through, 30 to 40 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of a meatball should read at least 160 degrees F (72 degrees C).
