I got this grownup hot dog recipe from a girl I attend church with. They were always gone in no time at family functions. You need to let them sit for a day or two to take on the flavor, and inexpensive hot dogs are key here…. they make a better product!
Ingredients
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup bourbon
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 (16 ounce) packages hot dogs, sliced into bite-sized pieces
Directions
Step 1
Combine ketchup, bourbon, and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook and stir until sugar dissolves, 2 to 3 minutes. Add hot dogs. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
Step 2
Let cool completely before refrigerating for 24 to 48 hours.
Step 3
Reheat hot dogs by simmering in a pan over medium heat, about 5 minutes. Serve warm with toothpicks.
