Cookdap Community Tips and Praise

"It has become a family tradition," says one Cookdap community member. "Because this recipe is so forgiving, you can adjust the recipe to your own taste. The dessert is actually gorgeous when completed — especially on a serving plate."

“I’ve made this recipe twice,” according to Amy Shipley Carpenter. “The second time I doubled the crust and was out of whipped topping so I used heavy whipping cream and made my own.”

“This has been a family favorite for years,” says Susan Teneza. “I am usually rushing when I am making this, but I’ve learned that it’s much easier to take my time and divide the process into three separate steps which allows each to cool properly and always yields the best results.”

Ingredients

  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • ¾ cup butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 2 (3 ounce) packages strawberry flavored Jell-O®
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 (10 ounce) packages frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup white sugar

Directions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

Step 2
Stir crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 3 tablespoons sugar together until well-combined; mix well and press mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
