This Asian wing sauce is savory, gingery, and delicious. We fried some wings for the football game on Sunday and then decided we wanted an Asian-style sauce instead of the norm. Being the experimental type, I concocted this sauce using ingredients I already had and it turned out to be a touchdown recipe!
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- ½ cup light soy sauce
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 2 teaspoons ground mustard
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Directions
Step 1
Heat olive oil and sesame seeds in a small saucepan over low heat; cook and stir until seeds are slightly toasted, 3 to 5 minutes. Add soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, and vinegar; whisk until brown sugar is dissolved, 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 2
Mix ginger paste, ground mustard, and red pepper flakes into soy sauce mixture; whisk until sauce is smooth, 2 to 3 minutes. Bring sauce to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes more.
Tips
For more spice add more red pepper flakes or a dash of cayenne pepper.
