This chili pot pie is simple and inexpensive to make, and my children gobble it up. The recipe is so easy, even my 9-year-old can make it! Just pour, mix, and bake.
Ingredients
- 1 (8.5 ounce) package cornbread mix (such as Jiffy®)
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 (15 ounce) cans turkey chili with beans, undrained
- 2 tablespoons shredded Cheddar cheese, or as desired (Optional)
- 1 tablespoon sour cream, or to taste (Optional)
Directions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Step 2
Whisk together cornbread mix, milk, and egg in a bowl until slightly lumpy.
Step 3
Pour turkey chili with beans into a 9-inch pie dish. Spoon cornbread batter over top.
Step 4
Bake in the preheated oven until cornbread edges begin to brown and the center is set, 20 to 25 minutes.
Step 5
Top each serving with Cheddar cheese and sour cream.
Tips
You can use an egg substitute if desired. If you use a different cornbread mix (other than Jiffy), follow the instructions on the box for the additional ingredients (eggs and milk).
