Ingredients
- 6 cups water
- 1 cube chicken bouillon
- 1 pound dried black-eyed peas, sorted and rinsed
- 8 ounces diced ham
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, stemmed, seeded, and diced
- 1 jalapeno chile, seeded and minced
- 2 cloves garlic, diced
- 1 ½ teaspoons cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- salt, to taste
Directions
Step 1
Gather all ingredients.
Step 2
Pour water into a slow cooker; add bouillon cube and stir to dissolve.
Step 3
Stir in black-eyed peas, ham, bacon, onion, bell pepper, jalape?o, garlic, cumin, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and salt.
Step 4
Cover and cook on Low until beans are tender, 6 to 8 hours.
