Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken

This slow cooker recipe works with any cut of meat, but the recipe listed is for pulled chicken. Two-pound cuts work best. Given to me by my aunt!

Ingredients

  • 4 large skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 dashes hot pepper sauce, or to taste (Optional)
  • 8 sandwich rolls, split

Directions

Step 1
Place chicken breasts into the bottom of a slow cooker.

Step 2
In a bowl, stir together ketchup, maple syrup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, chili powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and hot sauce until mixture is well blended. Pour over chicken.

Step 3
Cook on Low for 6 hours. Shred chicken with 2 forks, then cook for 30 more minutes. Serve shredded chicken and sauce spooned into sandwich rolls.

Tips

For best results, after 6 hours of cooking, make another batch of barbecue sauce and stir it into shredded chicken; cook for 30 more minutes.
