- 1 ¼ cups cold unsalted butter, cut into chunks
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, or more to taste
Directions
Step 1
Melt chocolate chips in a microwave-safe glass or ceramic bowl in 15-second intervals, stirring after each interval, 1 to 3 minutes.
Step 2
Combine powdered sugar, butter, cream, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Mix with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes. Add cocoa and melted chocolate chips; mix until creamy.
Step 3
Place in the refrigerator for 10 minutes before using.
Cook’s Note:
To make frosting thicker, add more powdered sugar. If you do not have any milk chocolate chips, replace with an additional 1/2 cup cocoa and 2 tablespoons of milk.
