An easy way to make individual instant oatmeal packets for a fast and hearty breakfast. The kids love to help! Add raisins, honey, or fruit as toppings if you like! My family of 7 will triple the recipe and put all the filled baggies into a gallon size resealable for storage. All the kids have to do in the morning is add water and any extra toppings and then microwave.
Ingredients
Recommended
- resealable sandwich bags
- 4 cups old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup wheat germ
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup nonfat dry milk powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Directions
Step 1
Blend oats in a blender until powdery; transfer to a large bowl. Add wheat germ, brown sugar, milk powder, and cinnamon; stir until evenly distributed. Spoon 5 tablespoons oat mixture into 17 individual sandwich bags.
Cook’s Note:
When ready to serve, simply add a baggie of oatmeal mixture to 5 to 8 tablespoons of water (depending how thick you like your oatmeal) in a microwaveable bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. Enjoy!
