This old-fashioned recipe for peach cream pie was handed down to me by my grandmother. It?s really one of the best pies I?ve ever tasted!
Ingredients
Topping
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
Pie
- ¾ cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups sliced peaches
- 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
Directions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Step 2
Make the pie: Whisk sugar, flour, and salt together in a mixing bowl. Add sour cream, egg, and vanilla; beat with an electric mixer until combined. Stir in sliced peaches. Pour mixture into pie crust.
Step 3
Bake in the preheated oven for 12 minutes. Reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and continue baking until the filling is set, about 30 minutes. Remove from the oven; increase the oven temperature to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Step 4
Make the topping: Whisk flour, sugar, and cinnamon together in a small bowl. Mix in butter with a fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over pie.
Step 5
Return the pie to the oven and bake until topping is golden, about 10 minutes. Let pie cool slightly before slicing, about 15 minutes.
