Trust me, even those who hate turnips will change their tune after trying this boiled turnip recipe.
Ingredients
- 3 turnips, peeled and chopped
- 1 pound bacon
- 4 tablespoons rendered bacon fat
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
Directions
Step 1
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add turnips; cook in boiling water until tender but still firm, 10 to 15 minutes. Drain and transfer to a serving bowl to cool.
Step 2
Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain bacon slices on paper towels. Crumble and set aside. Reserve 4 tablespoons bacon fat.
