A classic on rye. "A quick, easy, and basic recipe for patty melts," says Yoly. "I used Jewish rye bread but any bread will work as long as it's rye. I double the cheese but feel free to use 1 slice per patty melt."

Sweet onions, balsamic vinegar, Dijon-mayo, and nutty Jarlsberg cheese are the secret ingredients with this tangy patty melt.

"This mouthwatering meal combines the comfort of a grilled cheese sandwich with the deliciousness of a cheeseburger into a juicy, satisfying patty melt," says Laura. The patties are seasoned with garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and Montreal-style steak seasoning.

Even if you never use these greens to make a grilled cheese sandwich, you should still master this recipe to serve as a side to meat, with pasta, or scrambled into some eggs. This stuff is just shockingly delicious. I served mine with radishes and cornichons."

Caramelized onions, Swiss cheese, and broiled rye bread are the keys to this classic. "These patty melts are quick to put together, and are better than a diner because they're not nearly as greasy!" says thedailygourmet.
