If you love eggnog and you're a fan of custard pie, this baked eggnog pie recipe is an absolute must-try over the holiday season. Using store-bought eggnog and pie crust, you'll need just five additional ingredients and about 10 minutes of prep to make this a new holiday tradition.

Eggnog Pie Tips & Advice

Make It BoozyIf you can't resist adding brandy or rum to your eggnog when you drink it, you may want to try adding a splash to this pie, too! You can simply replace about 2 tablespoons of eggnog with your alcohol of choice; brandy or dark rum would be perfect additions. If you want to keep the pie alcohol-free but still want the flavor, you can add a teaspoon of brandy or rum extract.

Spice Things UpFor extra holiday flavor, you can consider adding 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the eggnog mixture as well as 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg. Or, as seen in the video, you can simply add a dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg on top before baking.

Watch the SugarIf your store-bought eggnog is already pretty sweet, or if you prefer less-sweet desserts in general, you may want to consider reducing the added sugar in the pie filling by 1/4 cup. Many reviewers noted using just 1 cup of sugar with success.

One Pie or Two?Using a 9-inch deep dish pie crust, this recipe makes one pie. You can make two pies (and speed things up by reducing the baking time!) by dividing the filling between two regular 9-inch pie crusts. Either way, be sure your pie crusts are thawed if frozen, and no need to pre-bake.

Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups white sugar
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups eggnog
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked deep dish pie crust

Directions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Step 2
Mix the sugar and flour together in a mixing bowl. Beat in the eggnog, eggs, and vanilla to make a smooth mixture. Stir in the butter. Pour into the prepared pie crust.

Step 3
Bake in preheated oven until the custard is set, 45 to 60 minutes. The outer edges of the pie should be fully set and the center should still be a little jiggly. Remove from oven and let cool to room temperature before slicing and serving.

Editor’s Note

We have amended the bake time from 35 minutes to 45-60 minutes thanks to comments from several reviewers that the pie needs to bake for up to 1 hour.
