This quick and easy grilled panini sandwich is made without a panini press! It’s got that restaurant taste but is made in a grill pan. Feel free to use any meats or cheeses you have on hand. It works great with anything!
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon mayonnaise, or to taste
- 2 (1-inch-thick) slices Italian bread
- 3 slices deli ham
- 2 slices provolone cheese
- 1 slice roasted red bell pepper
Directions
Step 1
Spread mayonnaise onto one side of each bread slice. Layer ham, provolone cheese, and roasted red bell pepper onto one slice, then top with the remaining slice, mayonnaise-side down.
Step 2
Heat a grill pan over medium heat. Place sandwich onto the hot pan. Place another heavy pan onto the sandwich, then add two heavy cans to the top pan. Press down on the cans to compress the sandwich. Reduce the heat to medium and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Flip the sandwich, replace the pan and cans, and cook until cheese is melted, 3 to 4 more minutes.
Recipe Tips
Try this with turkey, salami, or prosciutto instead of ham.You can use sourdough instead of Italian bread if preferred. You can substitute mozzarella, Cheddar, or Gruy?re for provolone.
