Ingredients

  • 4 ounces Ghirardelli Semi-Sweet Chocolate Baking Bar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/8 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup Ghirardelli Semi-Sweet Chocolate Baking Chips
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Directions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter and flour an 8-inch square baking pan.

Step 2
Chop the semi-sweet chocolate baking bar into 1-inch pieces.

Step 3
In the top of a double boiler or in a heatproof bowl over barely simmering water, melt the chopped chocolate and butter, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove the pan from the heat and let cool to room temperature.

Step 4
Stir the brown sugar and vanilla into the chocolate mixture. Add the eggs and mix well.

Step 5
In a bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly fold the flour mixture into the chocolate mixture, mixing well until blended. Stir in the chocolate chips and pour the batter into the prepared pan.

Step 6
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until a tester comes out clean. Remove from the oven and cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting into 2-inch squares.

This is my favorite brownie recipe! So good. I like to put nuts on top.

Perfect brownies! My mom always made these for the family and I finally got around to making them myself. Perfect amount of flavor and density. I added peanut butter cups to the top before I popped them into the oven and it turned out great.

Easy-Peary and absolutely MARVELOUS! I used an individual brownie pan and the edges were just that caramelized crispness, then the inside is fudgie and the chips just make it a chocolate fudge brownie lovers dream.

The cooking time was 40+ minutes. Followed directions exactly as written. Would likely use a different recipe in future, but liked that this one used butter in place of oil.
