Ingredients

  • 1 (12 ounce) bag cranberries
  • 1 Gala apple, cored and cut into chunks
  • 1 pear, cored and cut into bite-size chunks
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup white sugar, or more to taste

Directions

Step 1
Stir the cranberries, Gala apple, pear, lemon juice, water, and white sugar together in a saucepan over medium heat; bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and cook at a simmer until the cranberries pop and the liquid is absorbed, 20 to 30 minutes.

    This recipe doesn’t make sense. How can you simmer when there is almost no liquid? It is a saucepan full of fruit with a splash of water in the bottom.

    Very good and easy. I doubled the sugar.

    Did add about twice the sugar after starting with the original suggested amount.. after cooking down was still bitter. Would recommend keeping bigger chunks of pears and apples as ours were too small to really be noticed. Was quick and easy, will do again but with those modifications.

    I added more sugar, and some water so it could boil. I cut the fruit into bite size pieces as the recipe called for but I would cut smaller.
