Apple Cobbler Crisp

Apple Cobbler Crisp

This apple cobbler crisp is a cross between an apple crisp and an apple cobbler — I wasn’t really sure what to call it. I cut out a lot of ingredients in an attempt to make it healthier.

Ingredients

  • cooking spray
  • 3 McIntosh apples, cored and sliced
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, divided
  • ¼ cup rolled oats
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

Directions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8-inch square baking dish with cooking spray.

Step 2
Arrange apples in the bottom of the prepared baking dish; sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.

Step 3
Mix flour, white sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, oats, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon together in a bowl. Stir in water and egg until smooth. Spread batter evenly over apple mixture.

Step 4
Mix remaining 1/4 cup brown sugar and remaining 1 teaspoon cinnamon together in a bowl; sprinkle over batter. Dot with butter.

Step 5
Bake in the preheated oven until golden, 45 to 50 minutes.

Tips

Wheat flour can be substituted for the all-purpose flour if desired.
