Kolach ? also commonly referred to as kolache, kolace, or kolacky ? is a traditional Eastern European pastry made from tender dough wrapped around fruit jam. Particularly popular in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, this small treat has also made a name for itself in Texas. Stateside, it's made the traditional sweet way with fruit, but you can also find savory varieties stuffed with sausage. Whip up a batch of both, to find which one is your favorite, and you'll have plenty of homemade kolaches for sharing with friends and family.
